A Pretty Awesome Giveaway!

If you're on twitter and follow many NYC based fitness bloggers, your feed was probably overtaken by the the hashtag #fitblognyc last week. For the third year in a row, Fitness Magazine held this awesome event, featuring great guest speakers, delicious healthy eats, and some pretty rocking swag.

For some recaps of the event (and a 15% off discount at ericasara.com until 10/24), check out these posts: Fine Fit Day , Running Loving LivingMiss ZippyLive Life Surf. There are plenty more out there as well so search twitter for #fitblognyc and read up about the event. Or if you wrote a post and would like me to include it here, comment with your link below & I'll do my best!

Anyone that knows me knows that I love a good mantra or statement of intention. I use them daily and keep my ears open for fresh perspective. My two favorite quotes from the day were "People are drawn to authenticity" and "Embrace the fear. It'll drive you forward. And it's never going to be as bad as you think" both spoken by Holly Rilinger. The first is a sentiment I can stand behind and strive for on a daily basis. The second hit home before in a couple of weeks, or perhaps even sooner, I will be giving birth to my first child and I'm trying not to be scared out of my mind. I'll get to more on that in a bit.

Aside from the great swag and wonderful learnings, my favorite part of the event was the opportunity to connect with old friends and to make some new. Since moving to PA, I rarely get to see my blogging world buddies and this was a great opportunity to connect with so many of them. At one point, I was hanging with Pamela from Sparkly Soul and Nicole from Blissful Eats and it occurred to me that we were 3 femalepreneurs who began our businesses at roughly the same time and we were all success stories. It gave me the warm & fuzzies.

After the event, I ran back home to accompany my husband to the Runner's World Editor/Blogger dinner which kicked off the RW Half Weekend in Bethlehem, PA. So, I didn't get a chance to look through the gift bag until the next morning. I felt pretty spoiled that morning and started making piles: stuff for my food pantry, makeup and girly stuff, stuff Robert would like.... stuff for my birthing hospital bag. This last one was the biggest pile. At 36 weeks, I was beginning to pack my hospital bag and realized that some of the toiletry samples, the Sparkly Soul headband, the snacks, and granola and a mamalete tank that weren't part of the swag but that I received as gifts at Fit Blog, would be great during & after labor.  And that's when this giveaway was born!

Like I said, I felt spoiled and it's not a comfortable feeling for me. I'm more comfortable giving than taking.... so how could I share this stuff? Simple, a giveaway. I reached out to Pamela, Nicole and Gia, the original Mamalete herself, and asked if they wanted to join me in giving. They all jumped at the idea! The original idea was stuff you could use in your hospital bag but let's be honest, you don't have to be a pregnant chick to dig this stuff. So anyone can enter! Here's what we're giving away:
Six 2 oz samplers of Blissful Eats Granola + a 12 oz bag of the seasonal favorite Apple Cinnamon. A delicious and energizing snack for during & after labor.
A set of 3 Sparkly Soul headbands (Sky Blue, Ice Pin & Silver)- perfect to keep your hair off your face during labor
This awesome, cute & super comfy Mamalete tank! I have a feeling I might wear mine during at least some of my labor as a reminder of how strong I can be
A Custom Engraved ESD bracelet, similar to the one in the Fitblog swag bags, featured the birth mantra, or intentions of  your choice in your choice of sterling silver or gold fill. My husband is a lucky man- I have no reason to expect jewelry from him EVER, and especially not as a push gift. But, I'll be making my own push gift in the form of a birth mantra bracelet to wear during labor. The idea is that I can wear it and use it as a focal during contractions. After the birth, I'll engrave the baby's name & birth info on the back!
Because I'm teaming up with 3 other fierce female businesses, there are a whole bunch of opportunities to enter this giveaway. Good luck to all!

  8. Oh my! You weren't kidding about a Pretty Awesome Giveaway!! All that stuff would be perfect for your hospital bag!! Ok, so I sport what appears to many as a small baby bump, but I'm not preggo...anymore. I've already delivered my two littles...who actually, just celebrated their 3rd and 5th birthdays, this past week! It goes SO fast!!! While I loved everything about being pregnant, I unfortunately did not have the birth experiences I'd hoped for. Since I believe that everything happens for a reason, I took it as a sign to go back to school. I've just started nursing school, with the plan of becoming a midwife, so that I can hopefully help others have the experience they desire :)

  17. I am already a mom and not going to be giving birth again any time soon, but the most amazing part is just being capable of that kind of love as well as receiving that kind of love in return. Motherhood is the most amazing gift! THanks for the great giveaway!
